M.P. Manilla has been twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and holds twenty-eight awards from national and international film festivals. She began her career at Newsday and was promoted to Senior City Room Feature Writer before leaving to become the first woman to be hired as an on-air correspondent at WCBS-TV News, CBS flagship station in New York City, where she also reported on breaking news on NewsRadio 88. She also worked in Public Relations at JCPenney and was Public Relations Director for HA!, Henson Associates, producers of The Muppets, before returning to broadcast news as a producer on a nationally broadcast TV Newsmagazine show.

A native New Yorker, Manilla now lives in Sarasota, FL and is completing a second novel while working on a third novel, a film script and a documentary about the Seminole wars.
